Ferris Wheel Stackers
The photo above shows a rotary stacking system commonly referred to as a Ferris Wheel Stacker. This type of stacker is used to stack flimsy material that can not be stacked in the standard fashion.
Sheets traveling toward the piler are timed with the rotary motion of the slotted wheels. The sheets fall into the slots and are stripped by a stop mechanism at the bottom of the wheel. Once a sheet has been stripped, the wheel continues around to accept the next sheet from the Layboy.
When the desired stack height has been reached, the stacked sheets are conveyed to the front of the machine for packaging.
